October 16th is the “World Food Day” and the “World Bread Day”
On October 16 th, the Faculty of International Relations, Career Guidance and pre-University Training held a round table dedicated to the “World Food Day” and the “World Bread Day”
One of the most popular products in the world without which, perhaps, no day of our live is complete is, of course, bread. Therefore, it is not surprising that the World Bread Day is celebrayed annually on October 16. The holiday was established in 2006 on the initiative of the International Union of bakers and bakers-confectioners. And the choice of the date is due to the fact that on October 16, 1945, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations was created, which is engaged in solving problems in the development of agriculture and its production. By the way, another holiday – World Food Day is timed to this event.
World Food day is celebrated annually on October 16. The event was proclaimed in 1979 at the conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The date is fixed by the Resolution of the General Assembly (GA) of the United Nations No. A/RES/35/70 in 1980. The date of the international holiday is associated with the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN on October 16, 1945 at the conference in Quebec.
For the holiday foreign students prepared the bread for tasting. In total 5 samples of the bread from the Lebanese Republic, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tunisia and the Republic of Belarus were presented. Students from these countries prepared presentations describing the features of the foods from their country, and showing the varieties of bread. In addition to five countries mentioned above, foreign students from the Republic of Azerbaijan and China added their presentations.
