THE FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE AMBASSADOR
OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN TO THE ACADEMY
On October 23, Nosirjon Sobirovich Yusupov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus and Daniyar Tajievich Abidov, the Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus arrived at the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary medicine for the first official visit.
High guests were received by the authorities of the Academy and Vladimir A. Samsonovich, the head of the Main Department for Education, Science and Personnel from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
The interest to our Academy is not accidental as agriculture is one of the most important spheres in the Republic of Uzbekistan, and earlier the Ambassador held the position of the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, and the foreign students studying at the Academy receive a good level of education and become highly qualified specialists.
The main goal of the visit of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Belarus to the Academy was to familiarize with the organization of the educational process, the history and structure of the Academy, with the system of higher agrarian education in the Republic of Belarus, to discuss the development of Belarusian-Uzbek cooperation in the field of higher agrarian education.
During the meeting, both sides expressed their eagerness and readiness for closer cooperation and further negotiations, stressing the importance of student exchange. The Rector of the Academy Mikalai I. Haurychenka tried to draw a special attention from the Uzbek side to the fact that the Academy attaches the greatest importance to improving the quality of training of veterinary specialists by the introduction of innovative forms and technologies of training, improvement of curricula, professional development of the teaching staff.
During the conversation with Vladimir A. Samsonovich, the head of the Main Department for Education, Science and Personnel of the Ministry of Agriculture, that was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the prospects of cooperation between our countries in the field of agrarian education were discussed.
The Vice-rector for Academic Affairs of the Academy Vladimir A. Zhurba additionally drew the attention of the Uzbek side to the fact that in the educational process much attention is paid, first of all, to the practical training of future veterinarians and veterinary-sanitary specialists, pharmacists and zooengineers.
After the meeting with the managerial staff quests were shown over the campus visiting study buildings and clinics of the Academy, the Research Institute and dormitories. The Vice-rector for Scientific Affairs of the Academy Alexander A.Belko underlined in his interview with the Ambassador that scientific cooperation is important both for Uzbekistan and the Academy and also suggested developing cooperation in the field of science and training of PhD students.
During the talks and a visit to the dormitories Dmitry N. Fedotov, the Dean of the Faculty for International Cooperation, Career Guidance and Pre-University Training described the conditions of study and residence for Uzbek students and undergraduates, enlightened their success in studies and social and cultural life in particular, and also stressed the possibility of increasing the number of students and undergraduates from other the citizens of Uzbekistan.
Later on, the Ambassador had a meeting with the students and postgraduates from Uzbekistan. During the conversation the Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the opportunity for the undegraduates and master’s programme students from Uzbekistan to study at the Academy. The Ambassador also expressed his hope for more students from Uzbekistan to be able to get education at the Academy.
Presently, the Academy has enrolled 16 Uzbek students and postgraduates (as well as 29 students at the Interuniversity Faculty at the Samarkand Institute of Veterinary Medicine), and for the next academic year it is planned to increase the number of students from the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the end of the visit, the Ambassador Nosirjon S. Yusupov, and his councellor Daniyar T. Abidov expressed their eagernerss to further promote the strengthening of ties for cooperation and friendship between the Academy, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the end of the meeting, the Rector of the Academy Mikalai I. Haurychenka handed the souvenirs and warmly thanked the guest for the visit, expressing his hope for the establishment of a long-term bilateral academic and scientific cooperation with the Sunny and friendly Republic of Uzbekistan.
