Actions for the world AIDS campaign
As part of the world AIDS Day on December 2, 2019 in the Concert hall “Vitebsk” was held the action “Find out your HIV status” with the screening of the forum-performance “Full Circle” and the rapid testing for HIV.
Students together with teachers of the educational institution “Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine” attended the event and took part in a frank conversation on the topic of alienation, misunderstanding of social stereotypes.
Worldwide, 34 million people are infected with HIV making it one of the most important public health problems in human history. Today, significant scientific advances have been made in the treatment of HIV infection, there are laws to protect people living with HIV, and we have a much better understanding of the disease.
Despite this, not all people know how to protect themselves and others from HIV infection, stigma and discrimination remain a reality for many people living with the disease.
The red ribbon is a symbol of solidarity with AIDS patients. It is attached to clothing, expressing support for the infected. So, handing out red ribbons to students and teachers, activists of the Student Council of the EE VSAVM together with the Department of HIV / AIDS prevention of GU “Vitebsk regional center of hygiene, epidemiology and public health” on December 2, 2019 in the foyer of the Study and Laboratory building was held an action ” HIV knows everything about you. What do you know about it?”.
The program also included a quiz ” What do you know about HIV?”, photo zone “prevention of HIV / AIDS” and distribution of booklets, leaflets, memos on this problem.
