STUDENTS OF VSAVM ON A TOUR AT THE MUSEUM
MEMORIAL COMPLEX «KHATYN»
March 22 is a sad date in the national calendar of Belarus. This day is particularly painful: 81 years ago, the village of Khatyn and all its inhabitants were burned to the ground by fascist invaders and their minions.
More than 200 villages shared the bitter fate of Khatyn during the Great Patriotic War, never having been revived. More than 10,000 villages and villages suffered during the occupation. Terrible confirmations of fascist atrocities on Belarusian soil are being uncovered until now. Numerous facts showed that the Nazis had carried out a deliberate policy of genocide against the population of Belarus.
Students of 2-4 courses of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology Faculty, as well as deputy deans on educational work Soboleva Yu.G. and Shamich Yu.V. with the support of the primary trade union student organization EE VSAVM visited the museum at the memorial complex «Khatyn».
In total, there are six halls in the museum. Each is dedicated to a certain period in the history of the Belarusian people. The exhibition space gradually introduces the history of major military conflicts and tragedies of civilians.
The first hall covers the period of the history of Belarus from the X to XX centuries. It recalls the main military conflicts that have swept through our land. The second immerses in the atmosphere of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War: the disruption of the usual way of peaceful life, the first victims and separated families. The next room is devoted to the theme of occupation, concentration camps, mass killings and the survival of civilians in inhuman conditions. The fourth is about burned villages. In addition to the installations, it has light-dynamic screens that recreate the effect of being in a burning shed.
The fifth hall is the space of memory. On the walls are embossed the names of settlements affected by the invaders. The ears shake in the wind are a symbol that even after the worst war, life goes on. The final room demonstrates the historical research of the war tragedy, reflects the history of the memorial ensemble «Khatyn».
The students were shocked by what they saw, asking many questions to the guide. The scale of the tragedy and the need to preserve historical memory were discussed.
