Webinar “the Power of Genetics”
On may 27, employees of the Department of Genetics and Breeding of Farm animals named after O. A. Ivanova of the BiotechnologicalFaculty EEVSAVM took part in a webinar of the American company “Genetex” on the topic “the Power of Genetics”. The host of the webinar is Dmitry Nikulin, PhD in veterinary science, General Director of the Dairy company “Genetika” LLC in the Russian Federation. The webinar addressed the following issues:
- The role of genetics in the profitability of milk production on the example of leading Russian agricultural enterprises.
- How to live and work with the new genetic basis (from April 2020).
- Selection – to the increase of feed conversion in dairy cattle.
The webinar was informative and unique, with a large number of abstracts.
The role of genetics in the evolution of cattle was shown. Information on the influence of genetics on selection indices is provided. A large amount of information about the use of the genetic basis is considered. The issue of the influence of the best breeding value of sire bulls on increasing feed conversion in dairy cattle was considered.
The information obtained will be very useful to the Department’s employees for conducting research and in training specialists.
