FIRST CHARITY BALL
The first charity ball, organized by the regional organization of the Belarusian Women’s Union to assist the Vitebsk Zoo, was held at the Culture House of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine.
The event was attended by nineteen couples representing five institutions of higher education establishments of Vitebsk. Vyacheslav Khrol, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Executive Committee, welcomed the participants as an honorary guest.
He stressed that everyone should have a good heart not only towards the smaller brothers but also towards each other. He wished charity to become a way of life for the youth, noting that an important factor of the ball is acquaintance, which can develop into further communication.
Among the honored guests were also chairman of the Vitebsk City Council of Deputies Olga Ivanova, director of the Vitebsk branch of the international university «MITSO» Irina Nikolaeva, director of the Vitebsk Zoo Irina Orlova.
According to Olga Gorlova, the vice-rector of the VSAVM, the chairman of the October district organization of the BSW, for several years the women’s union held such balls in Minsk. This year, all regions joined the capital.
The balls opened at the same time and began with a roll call, in which representatives of each region told what the target was for charity.
