The Torch relay of the II European games the “Flame of Peace”
May 24, 2019 students of the academy and staff of the division for Student’s Affairs took part in the solemn reception of the Torch relay of the II European games “Flame of Peace”.
Vitebsk is the third regional center which took the baton of fire. The torch was carried along the streets of the city by 13 people following one by one. The participants were famous athletes, prominenr figures of culture and art, famous doctors and public figures. The best representatives of various professions: people’s artist of Belarus S.A. Okruzhnaya, honored Master of sports, silver medalist of the Olympics in Moscow in 1980 I. V. Kanygin , the Olympic champion on jumps on a trampoline in Rio de Janeiro, V. A. Goncharov, a honoured worker of the industry of Belarus Martynov N. B. and others. The relay route started from the Freedom square and finished at the Victory square where a festive concert program was offeref for the guests.
On the whole the “Fire of peace” will pass throuh 7700 kilometers from the unique Roman Museum “Altar of Peace” to the Minsk “Dynamo” stadium, where the II European games will begin. In June 21 – 30, more than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete for 200 sets of awards in 15 sports.
